At times I help the Puget Sound Shih Tzu Fanciers (Washington State) and the American Shih Tzu Club deal with unwanted or abandon pets. Other members in each club also help with placing these dogs in new homes. If you are interested in getting a rescue dog or giving up your dog, check in your home state for a club near you. Also look at the American Shih Tzu Club's web site for information. I will only take Shih Tzu's and there is a list of qualifying factors before they can go into the rescue program. Before you give up your dog because of a behavior problem, try contacting your local Shih Tzu Club and asking advice. I have found over the years that most dogs that end up in my care are normally older. If you are looking for a puppy or a very young dog it is highly unlikely that it will be found. You can have your name put on a list for the West side of the mountains in Washington State only. I will then notify you if anything becomes available.
